Girls

Date September 26, 2011

“Girls” was the immediate follow-up to the popular “Back to Cruel”. Now I know what you’re thinking – having a zombie tree, squirrel, butterfly or human eating, dismembering or disemboweling an innocent (or not so innocent) bystander could never get old. And you’re probably right. But just to play it safe, I wanted to explore another aspect of the Donnie Goth Comic’s personality… Ironic humor. In “Girls”, Donnie rides a roller-coaster of adolescent emotions, with his faithful pal Oliver

there by his side for moral support (or empathy that borders on downright creepiness). The pacing of the story is reminiscent of the classic Donnie Goth story, “Stupid Questions”. A story which also happens to be the second episode in the original series. Will the pattern of “tête-à-tête” between the sexes continue in the third season? (insert dramatic musical punctuation here).
